Newstead Arts Hub’s reputation for engaging and quality activities has grown over the years. Our exhibitions, workshops and events bring in art lovers from all over Victoria, a wonderful achievement for a community and artist-led venue. We are excited to have attracted more than 70 new members since launching memberships in December.

While most of our current Committee members wish to remain, Chris Johnston who has been Chair for more than five years is stepping down to focus on her writing and ceramics. With our recent incorporation, launch of All Aboard membership campaign and new business plan, the appointment of a part-time Program & Promotion Coordinator and new team structures, there has never been a better time to step into a rewarding committee role. We are keen to welcome new people onto our portfolio teams. These include events & exhibitions; membership & volunteers; facilities & garden; grants & donors; marketing & publicity; government, business and community relations.

At the AGM, we’ll be electing eight or more members to our Committee, to the following roles:

  • Chair
  • Vice-Chair
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • General Committee Members

The Chair facilitates committee meetings, supports the committee members in their roles and is the public face of the organisation. The Vice-Chair partners with the Chair to provide strategic guidance and as a sounding board between meetings.  The Treasurer is responsible for financial management and budgets and the Secretary manages committee correspondence including meeting agendas and minutes.  Our Committee members also take on ‘portfolios’ related to their interests and skills.

Forming a new Committee is an exciting opportunity for new members to build on the strong foundation that has been established, an exciting program of exhibitions, workshops and events and a rising profile in the creative landscape of central Victoria, as well as the chance to take the Arts Hub in new and different directions. If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else, please complete the nomination form attached to the agenda and return by Thursday 15 February by email info@newsteadartshub.org or post to PO Box 123, Newstead VIC 3462 or bring along to the AGM.

At the Arts Hub, the ability to learn on the job, to share, connect and grow is central to how we operate, so if you are interested, but fear you might not have all of the skills, please talk to one of us. If you would like to have a chat prior to the AGM about joining the Committee, please feel free to get in touch with Chris Johnston (0418 512 471), Geoff Park (0418 138 632) or Kate Tucker (0409 996 561)

Look forward to seeing you at our AGM and Pop-Up.
