Get hands on with clay
Still time to join this new clay class at the Hub: 4 weeks of classes for $208 including materials, or choose a ‘3 weeks’ ticket for a taster. Talbot-based Jason Luca is a great teacher. This short course is perfect for absolute beginners and also for those with some experience. Classes weekly: Thurs 16 Feb 6-9pm, then weekly to Thurs 9 March.
Each week Jason will guide you with patience and understanding as you learn about the nature of clay. Through simple hand building techniques such as pinching, coiling and slab building, you will be able to create your own original works. Up to three decorative or functional pieces will be fired at the end of the course (firing cost is calculated by weight) and these will be returned to the centre for collection when ready.
The cost ($208) for 4 weeks includes a 6kg bag of clay, some underglazes and all tools (firing costs extra), $156 for 3 weeks.
3 hour class held in comfortable room at Newstead Arts Hub with small numbers (max 8 people).
