Newstead Spinners invite you in!

This exhibition showcases the craft of our members and inspires us all to greater creative achievements.

Throughout the exhibition, members will demonstrate fibre crafts including spinning, dyeing, carding alpaca, felting, weaving, and sock machine knitting. As well, Newstead Spinners will show their diorama “Where the road leads us” which was exhibited at the 2025 Australian Sheep and Wool Show in Bendigo.

Many of the wonderful handmade items in the exhibition will be for sale.

Newstead Spinners will be running a raffle throughout the exhibition. The first prize is a large knitted throw, second prize in a woven wrap and third prize is a woollen lap rug.

The Spinners are staging a Fibre to Fabric in Action event at their meeting on Tuesday 5 May where teams of five card, spin, ply and knit a beanie, working against the clock. The team results will be on display at the exhibition.

All welcome.

About Newstead Spinners

Newstead Spinners Group began as an informal gathering of interested fibre crafts people. Friendship and an open sharing of skills and curiosity about all things fibre, have been at the heart of Newstead Spinners ever since. Not all who join the group spin yarn, but all love to create using mostly natural fibre of various kinds. Newstead Spinners will mark their 50th birthday in 2027.

Newstead Spinners regularly have workshops, have a library of fibre craft books and members can borrow equipment owned by the group for that purpose. We meet every second Tuesday at the Newstead Community Centre from 10.30 am to 3 pm. Visitors are welcome.
