Workshop: Small Birds from Natural Materials

Learn how to use the natural plant fibre of flax to create a bird from your imagination or using an image to inspire you!

We will start by making a simple framework of wire and slowly “flesh out” surfaces using the basketry technique known as interlacing or random weaving.

Jodie will provide a demonstration showing how to collect, split, dry and rehydrate flax in preparation for weaving.

All tools and materials are included in the cost, but please bring small pliers and scissors if you have them.

Suitable for both adults and teenagers.
