About SHAC
SHAC was formed in the Ballarat suburb of Soldiers Hill in 2015 and exhibits about four times a year.
SHAC’s signature event is ArtWalk, held nine times since 2015. Art is displayed in shopfronts and studios of Soldiers Hill. It is a well-loved feature of the Ballarat Arts Calendar.
SHAC sponsors a prize for graduating visual arts students from Federation University.
SHAC has held three collaborative exhibitions with the Ballarat writers group “Words Out Loud”. These involved: firstly, the writers responding to art by writing short prose or poetry pieces; secondly, the artists creating art in response to the written word. Challenging for all. Very worthwhile.
SHAC on TRACK are our travelling exhibitions held at former railway stations: Willaura in 2023, St Arnaud in 2024, Ross Creek in 2025 and now Newstead Arts Hub in 2026.
