An exhibition by five new local artists who met last year at the excellent Art Pathway course run by Castlemaine Community House.
Inspired by the wonderful instructors and excited by the creative process, the idea for a show in the year ahead was formed, perhaps as a ploy, to encourage the continuation of creating.
The five artists come from a variety of backgrounds and geographies, living lives full of the myriad things that make a life; relationships, studies, working, raising children, the struggles and joys that lie around every corner. They bring this wealth of lived experience and emotional zigs and zags to their individual art making.
This cross-generational group present a kaleidoscopic show with artworks in rooms awash with colour and contrast. Mediums include painting, print making, photography and sculpture with landscapes, abstraction, still life and portraiture. Each artist brings their own sensibilities, while being encouraged and supported by the group.
This show captures the curiosity and experimentation that comes with new forms of expression as these emerging artists follow their practice a little further down the Art Pathway.
Opening Saturday October 31st at 2pm with drinks, snacks and live music by The Shops.
Artists: Gretchen Ennis, Kay Gherbaz, Mandy Barry, Rod Balaam and Zeb Olsen
Co-curated by Sage Siebler
