Faeries
Faeries are a perfect archetype for a changing world. They represent change itself as they are neither energy nor form but rather the connection between them. They exist in the liminal, the betwixt, appearing at dawn, dusk, the crossroads, the edge of the forest and the bottom of the garden – Ultimately any place where one thing transforms into another. The domestic into the wild or the physical into the ephemeral.
Maya’s new exhibition is an intricate celebration of reconnection. Her work offers us safe passage into the fertile space between ourselves, the natural world and the divine, depicting in beautiful detail, a magical world of spirits, faeries and saints.
About the Artist
My name is Maya Carroll-Tischler and I’m a visual artist and gardener from Daylesford. My work is all about reconnection and often depicts scenes and characters from mythology and folklore with an emphasis on spiritual ecology. I’m a place-based artist, so while my work appears in a wide array of mediums, I also create my own ink and paint from locally foraged botanicals. Overall it’s a celebration of nature and an offering to you – as a small moment of magic.
